The MWV Foundation is working with Natural Organic Process Enterprises (NOPE) to enrich the soil at the Community Kitchen Garden by donating nutrient-rich compost made from food scraps from MWV’s cafeteria.

Richmond, Virginia: Organics Hauler Achieves B Corp Certification

In June, Natural Organic Process Enterprises (NOPE), a commercial organics hauler based in Richmond, became the first organics recycling collection service in the nation to achieve B Corp certification. B Corp certification is a third party assessment carried out by the nonprofit organization B Lab, which evaluates companies using a number of criterion on their ability to solve social and environmental issues.

Virginia Composters Form State Composting Council Chapter

The State of Virginia is the newest to form a regional group to promote the compost manufacturing industry under the umbrella of the US Composting Council, the group announced today.  Their goal is joining the forces of compost manufacturers, municipal managers and collectors of organics, as well as researchers and other allies including users of compost for Virginia projects, said Ken Bannister of Draper Aden Associates, current President of the group.
